INTRODUCTORY FOIL CLASSES:  Tulsa Fencing Club offers a 4 week Introductory Foil Class designed to teach basic foil techniques and to give the prospective TFC member the opportunity to try fencing without a large up-front investment.  The Introductory Foil Class is $35 and includes use of club equipment.  Lessons start at 7pm and go to 8pm.  A portion ($25) of the Introductory Foil Class fee will be applied towards a full TFC membership if the student wishes to continue fencing at the club.

FOIL AND EPEE LESSONS:  TFC offers free foil and epee lessons to members.  Lessons are designed for a 12 week course.  There are four types of lessons:  Beginning Foil, Advanced Foil, Beginning Epee and Advanced Epee.  Foil and Epee lessons are scheduled according to the availability of the student and the teacher.

Students will need to purchase their own equipment for  lessons.  For beginning foil this includes a sight foil, a glove, a fencing mask, a fencing jacket, and an underarm protector.  In addition, ladies will also need breast protectors.    You will need to order your own equipment.  You can expect beginning equipment to cost approximately $100 to $135.

GENERAL PRACTICE AND BOUTING:  The time from 8pm to 10pm is generally reserved for practice and bouting, which the coaches like to participate in, as well.

Remember, it takes time to become “Zorro!”  If you’re not prepared to take the time, it’s probably better not to start.  As a part of your commitment, you will need to be at practice (or lessons) every time, consistently, and on time.  You will also need to do your homework!  Your homework will be to practice, at home, those things which you can practice alone.  This will include footwork, extend, lunge, manipulation of your weapon, etc.

Note:  Practicing doing something the wrong way, is counter-productive.  It must be done correctly!  This should be done for five or ten minutes every day between lessons.  Don’t be afraid to practice in front of a mirror!  This will help you to check your form.
